Dubai: The audience witnessed something very surprising on the first day of Asia cup as Bangladesh crushed the Srilanka by a big difference of 137 runs. Bangladesh manages to do this magic with the help of incredible inning of Mushfiqur Rahim who smashed his career best144 runs.

Bangladesh got a poor starting as it lost two wickets on just 1 run but then Mushfiqur Rahim (144) and Mohammad Mithun (63) played brilliantly and ended up with 261 in 49.3 overs. As far as the Srilankan bowling is concerned, Lasith Malinga bagged 4 wickets, Dhananjaya de Silva got 2 wickets and Suranga Laxmal, Amila Aponso, and Thisara Perera got 1 wicket each.

The target of 262 was very easy for Lankan batsmen but they struggled and lost wickets at regular intervals to ultimately fall short of the target. No batsmen could manage to cross the 30 runs and lost all wickets on 124 runs in 35.2 overs. Bangladeshi bowlers have performed very well and stopped Lankan to grow the partnership. For Bangladesh, Mashrafe Mortaza, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hussain bagged 2 wickets whereas Shakib Al Hasan, Rubel Hossain and Mosaddek Hossain got 1 wicket each.

Today Pakistan will play its first match in this tournament against Hong Kong who is participating for the first time in Asia Cup.
