The Bengali movie director Srijit Mukherji’s much-forecasted movie 'Uma' had its first screening at the New York Indian Film Festival. The movie got a very positive response from the audience. On the screening of the New York Indian Film Festival, consul general of India was present at the screening. The consul general has also expressed his views about the movie on his Twitter handler. 

In his Tweet consul general of India has said that the movie is an inspired and inspiring film about hope and optimism. His tweet read, “’Uma’ by Srijit Mukherji premiered at New York Film Festival today. It is an inspired and inspiring film about hope and optimism. As Srijit himself said after the screening only love can make things happen and transform out world. A film to watch and talk about”.

The feedback given by the consul general made Srijit Mukherji feel proud and elated. During an interview with TOI  Srijit Mukherji said that after Autograph in 2010 and Rajkahini in 2015, this is his third film that had a screening at the festival. He included that he is happy that people from the US have liked it. He also mentioned that the screening was accompanied by a thorough Q&A session, where he encountered a hard time describing the idea of Akal Bodhon to the American onlookers.
