New Delhi: renowned freedom fighters Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru are yet to be crowned by martyr status by the government of India- an RTI question mark has exposed.
The inquiry, lodged with the Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) lets slip that the three are instead listed as far-reaching youth and militants in a book that was out by the ICHR in November.
It may be worth mentioning here that the ICHR chairman is selected by the government.
Reaction to the query also has exposed that successive governments without being seen the martyrdom of the three freedom fighters, saga of whom have encouraged generations.
In his question mark, Jammu-based activist Rohit Chowdhary had asked whether the three freedom fighters (Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru) were crowned by martyr status.
The response was on the other hand met with a bolt from the blue as the trio was point out as radical youth and not martyrs.
