Bihar: Illegal liquor of Rs 1 crore seized once again

Vaishali Police has recovered English liquor of more than Rs 1 crore, taking action against illegal liquor traders after the death of three people after allegedly drinking poisonous liquor in Barathi assistant station area of Vaishali district.

In this case, three trucks have also been seized and five people have been arrested.   According to the police, 695 bottles of liquor and 900 foreign liquor bottles have been seized openly from different areas of the city police station area and Bidpur police station area of Vaishali district.

Sunil Kumar, in charge of the city police station, said that on the basis of secret information, two trucks have been seized from the new Gangak bridge and Meenpur area, out of which foreign liquor was recovered in large quantity. 

They said that 660 bottles of alcohol have been recovered from these trucks. They said that both trucks had arrived in Bihar with liquor from Haryana. Four people have been arrested in this case, who is being questioned.   

Ritesh Kumar, in-charge of Bidpur, said that on the basis of intelligence, a truck was seized from Bhaurpur village, with 35 bags of foreign liquor and openly 900 bottles of wine were recovered. The truck driver has been arrested in this case.   

A police official said that the value of liquor recovered is being pegged at around Rs one crore. The police are trying to figure out where the said alcohol was to be sent and to whom. It is worth mentioning that in Bihar in April last year, there was a complete ban on liquor.
