Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday busted a child porn racket being run on Whatsapp and nabbed one of the five group administrators.  The members of the group shared child pornographic material on the group named “Kids XXX”.

The Whatsapp group had 119 members from different countries including US, China, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Kenya, Nigeria, and Sri Lanka.

“A case has been registered against group members for uploading and sharing child porn videos and photographs under Section 67B of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Five group administrators from India are under investigation. The numbers of the foreign nationals on the group will be shared with the respective countries as it's a global crime,” said a CBI source.

CBI conducted raids at the houses of the five group admin and arrested one from his house at Kannauj. The person arrested is Nikhil Verma, a 20-year-old graduate living in Kannauj who will be questioned in Delhi at CBI HQ. The five admin live in Delhi, Mumbai, Noida, and Kannauj. CBI also seized tablets, mobile phones, and laptops from their residence.

“The WhatsApp group was created nearly two years ago, CBI sources said, adding that the source of the videos circulated was being probed. It's not yet clear if the group members shot those videos or just circulated them,” informed a CBI source.
