Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE would be conducting the board examinations for Class 10th and 12th from March 2018. While there has been news that CBSE is unlikely to advance the board examinations to the month of February, sources have indicated on the likelihood of examinations starting from February 26 or 27. Sources, which are familiar with the CBSE pattern of setting examination date sheet for class 10th and 12th boards have shared that the festival of Holi could cause the board examinations of CBSE to start from February 26 or 27th in 2018.

The festival of Holi would be observed across the country on March 1 and 2, 2018. By which the CBSE board examinations, if starting from March, would be pushed further to March 3. The chance of the examinations getting further delayed is the weekend that falls shortly after the festivities. While it may seem like just two days, told an authority, the complete date sheet gets pushed back. In order to compensate for the two holidays that cannot be evaded, the board may advance the boards by two days. In all possibility, the board examinations would then start from February 26 or 27th, 2018. This news, though, is pure conjectures.

A retired senior officer shared that the Board is mindful of the festival falling often between the examinations. In its attempt to ensure that students are not too stressed, it often tries to place a gap between the examinations and the festival of Holi. However, the board cannot keep delaying board examinations. Particularly, of Class 12th. A majority of entrance examinations for engineering and medical along with other courses start in the month of April. JEE Main 2018, the national entrance examination for engineering is also scheduled for April 8, 15th and 16th. CBSE hence often tries to wrap up Class 12th science examinations in the month of March itself, without really pushing back other subjects. In effect, shared the officer, it is prudent to start the examinations two days earlier than pushing the dates back by a day.

CBSE, however, has not released the date sheet for the class 10th and 12th 2018 board examinations. It was earlier confirmed that CBSE and CISCE are likely to hold on declaring the dates till the poll-bound states don't declare their dates. CBSE Date Sheet for 2018 Board examinations is expected to be released in the month of January. The practical examinations for Class 10th and 12th would start from January 15, 2018. There is no confirmation from the CBSE regarding the start date of the board exams. Updates would be shared, as and when available.
