Lucknow: CM Yogi Adityanath of UP was elected unopposed in the Legislative Council byelection, that means he has now become MLC. No candidate stood against CM Yogi. Simultaneously, both Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma, Transport Minister Independent Dev Singh have also become MLC. No candidate has contested against them.

In the by-election, Presiding Officer and Principal Secretary of the Assembly Pradeep Dubey said that the term for the withdrawal of the by-election was ended at 3 PM today. After this, Chief Minister Yogi, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Dinesh Sharma and Transport Minister Independent Dev Singh were declared unopposed. No candidate has filed nomination against them.

Chief Minister Yogi and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, SP members Yashwant Singh and Buchkal Nawab have been elected in the bye-elections. The term of these two will be till 8 July 2022. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma and Transport Minister Independent Dev Singh also won the by-election. Both of them will be held till January 2021.

CM Yogi has also been elected as a member of Upper House like former Chief Minister Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav. In the fifth seat of Vidhan Parishad, BJP's candidate Waqf Minister of the state Mohsin Raza is almost certain to be elected. The nomination period for this seat has expired on Thursday and no one has filed a nomination against them. His nomination in the investigation was found to be valid today.
