New Delhi: Manika Batra continued her plentiful run on Day 10 at Gold Coast in Australia as she carved herself a piece of golden history with yet another sparkling performance. After delivering India's historic gold feat in women's mixed-team event in table tennis, Manika Batra on Saturday afternoon battled her way to settle her maiden singles title at Commonwealth Games 2018 in Gold Coast with an overlooking 11-7, 11-6, 11-2, 11-7 triumph over Singapore's Meingyu Yu in women's singles final.

With this gold medal, now she has become the first Indian woman to win table tennis gold in women's singles at multi- sports carnival Commonwealth Games.

Manika seemed to be India's biggest surprise in Gold Coast as she kicked off her way into the third table tennis finale on Saturday sunrise. She raised above world number four Singapore’s Tianwei Feng  12-10, 5-11, 11-8, 5-11, 5-11, 11-9, 13-11 in the semi-final round.

It was her second consecutive succeed against the top seed after scalping win in the team event as well. This was her third medal in Gold Coast with silver being the other which she had clinched alongside Mouma Das in women's doubles on Friday.
