The Thane police on Saturday in remission a cab driver for assert raping a woman passenger.

Mumbai local's ladies storage space to be painted 'saffron'.The 32-year-old cab driver committed the alleged crime on the night of December 19, according to Thane Superintendent of Police (Rural) Mahesh Patil.Police have detained the driver identified as Suresh P Gosavi. One of his friends has also been arrested for allegedly abetting the crime.

The complaint filed with the police said the victim boarded Gosavi's cab, which had Ola mark on it, on the evening of December 19 while travelling to Thane from Kashimira area.The taxi driver, however, drove to Vajreshwari and raped her in the car at an isolated spot. His friend, who was also sitting in the cab, allegedly helped him.

The duo also robbed the woman of her money, mobile and purse.As per reports available, the duo then took her to a lodge where the woman managed to alert the manager about her ordeal.They duo, however, managed to flee from the spot.

Gosavi and his friend were later arrested after the woman lodged a complaint with the police.According to police, Gosavi used to work for app-based cab service provider Ola, but had stopped accepting bookings from that firm for the last 10-15 days, police said.
