Men in Blue skipper Virat Kohli is going to break all the records of batting in the world of cricket, one by one and nobody can deny that seeing his current form. The ongoing tour of South Africa witnessed Virat Kohli reaching new milestones almost every single day and now he is heading towards a record which has only been matched once by West Indian iconic cricket greatest batsmen Vivian Richards and even the great Sachin Tendulkar couldn't match the feat. The record is to amass more than 1000 runs in a tour and Kohli is on brink of overhauling it in the current series.

Kohli has scored mammoth 558 runs in just 6 ODI matches in the Rainbow Nation and before that, he scored 286 runs in the Test series against Proteas. The first T20I saw the 29-year-old scored 26 runs, which brings his aggregate total to 870 runs, with two 20-20 internationals yet to be played. If the Indian captain, who is arguably one of the greatest batsmen in limited overs cricket in history, scores 130 or more runs in the remaining matches, he will reach the 1000-run tally from the tour.

After the legendary Vivian Richards scored 1045 runs during West Indies tour of England in 1976, Kohli will only be the second batsman in history to reach the 4-figure mark. Richards had scored 829 runs in Tests and 216 runs in ODIs 42 years ago.
