As per the recent studies conducted by the researchers at the King's College London (KCL) in the United Kingdom, the varied functions of psychosis were studied.

Sagnik Bhattacharyya, Ph.D., from KCL's Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience headed the research.

Talking about the study and the experiments, Bhattacharyya informed, "The mainstay of current treatment for people with psychosis are drugs that were first discovered in the 1950s and unfortunately do not work for everyone."

It has been proved earlier, with experiments, that Cannabidiol has antipsychotic effects. As a part of the experiments conducted, a 6-week clinical trial was proved to shown to relieve psychotic symptoms when it is taken along with antipsychotic medication. Similarly, the scientists decided to bring in a 4-week trial to make sure that the product they were working upon was as  effective as the regular antipsychotics.

Well, the neurological process that has been controlling the effect and action of these psychotics, wasn’t properly known till date.

Therefore the new researches were intended upon laying some emphasis on the functions and other aspects of potential cannabidiols that could be used for the treatment of Psychosis.

The surveys concluded that 3.5 percent of the entire population of the United States has been reported to have experienced symptoms of psychosis which include visual or auditory hallucinations.
