Captain Amarinder Singh today will take oath as the  Chief Minister of Punjab and before that his wax statue was unveiled at Ludhiana. In the Punjab Assembly elections 2017, he contested the election on Patiala seat. The Oath ceremony will take place at Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh where Governor VP Singh Badnore will administer the oath of office to him.

Other leaders who will also swear an oath is Navjot Sidhu, Manpreet Badal, Charanjit Channi. The ceremony will also be attended by Former prime minister Manmohan Singh and party vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

In the result of Assembly elections, Congress got 77 seats out of total 117 seats. While -Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who allianced with  Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) got only 18 seats.
