The peaceful sleep of the members of the Chatarpur farmhouse was ruined on Saturday night when a car chase sequence occurred in the South Delhi area.

The chase ended with the encounter of gangster Rajesh Bharti and three of his associates.

Eight Policemen were injured due to gunshots and were hospitalised.

According to sources, in the battle of 10 minutes, more than 150 bullets were fired.

Rajesh Bharti was considered one of the most wanted criminals of South Delhi.

The three others killed were identified as, Sandeep Vidrohi, Umesh alias Don, and Bhikhu.

They were accused of murder, kidnapping, extortion and car robberies.

The criminals were known to leave bragged notes, on the crime spots.

According to the police reports, the Ford Endeavor used by the criminals to elope is being suspected to belong to a resident of the Chatarpur Farmhouse, named Sanjit.

Around 1 pm, the gang reportedly showed up, in an SUV, and two other vehicles, through the Kharak-Chandanhola road. The criminals were accompanied by weapons like Glock and Chinese Star pistols. While the police used their AK47s, MP5 sub-machine guns and Glock pistols, to fire upon the criminals.

Police commissioner, Amulya Patnaik informed that a special cell had been tasked to track the group because of a spate of criminal acts involving the men. On Thursday, Bharti had called a city businessman and demanded Rs 1 crore from him.
