Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Das Tandon passed away on Tuesday, 14 August. He was the 90 years old and was admitted to a hospital in Raipur earlier today after he suffered cardiac arrest.

Chhatisgarh Governor Balram Das Tandon’s condition had been critical on today morning and he had been put on life support in Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital in Raipur. His secretary Surendra Kumar Jaiswal told PTI that Tandon had been kept in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) and was under observation.

Worth mention here the six-time Member of Legislative assembly (MLA) was admitted to the hospital late on Monday after complaints of uneasiness. The news agency PTI quoted a hospital source as saying. Earlier in the day, Tandon was present at the dress rehearsal for the Independence Day Parade today.

It is noted that Tandon is one of the founding members of the Jan Sangh which soon after had become the BJP. The 90 year old became the governor of Chhattisgarh in July 2014 .He had served on various other posts including the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab. The veteran leader was also jailed during Emergency from 1975 to 1977.
