Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], Jan 12 (NT): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has been strong-willed to take out the state Land Revenue Code (Amendment) Bill, 2017 in the course of protests by all tribal groups.

Earlier than the Cabinet conference on Thursday, CM Singh held the meeting with some senior tribal leaders and talked about this heated discussion.

The draft of the bill, which relieved the purchase of tribal land for government projects, was cleared by the Chhattisgarh Assembly last month and sent to Governor Balram Das Tandon for his approval.

Though, a delegation of the grand old Congress party met the Governor in recent times and urged him to not give his approval as the bill is not in favor of the tribal communities' welfare.

The Opposition Congress had earlier made allegations that through this bill, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Chhattisgarh government was making attempt to do away with the limitations on the procure of tribal lands.

Not together the Congress and the Sarva Adivasi Samaj influential, and some BJP leaders also had disapproved of the divisive land bill. (NT)
