New Delhi: A Special CBI court in national capital Delhi cleaves to former Jharkhand CM Madhu Koda, former Coal Secy HC Gupta, former Jharkhand Chief Secy Ashok Kumar Basu and one other as accountable of criminal conspiracy and section 120 B. The verdict will take place tomorrow.

The sentencing has been given in the case linked to allege abnormality in the allocation of the Rajhara North coal block in Jharkhand to Kolkata-based firm Vini Iron and Steel Udyog Ltd (VISUL).

69-year old HC Gupta was Coal Secretary for two years under the Congress-led UPA government ahead of his retirement in 2008. He is guilty of playing a leading role in the colossal rip off hailed as the coal scam. The ex-top bureaucrat was main indicted of not following a transparent auctioning system and causing losses running into crores to the taxpayer.

The CBI had laid blame that the VISUL had applied for allocation of the coal block in January 2007.

According to the reports, it is informed the 36th Screening board suggested the block to the VISUL's, not the Jharkhand Government and the Steel Ministry.

Gupta is said to have unfurnished at least 40 cases of coal mining rights and is said to have played a key role in the well-known scam.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged that Koda, Basu and two accused public servants worked in the favor  of VISUL in the coal block allocation.
