"Congress is like a 'bump' on a highway" : Modi at a rally in Mysuru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Palace Queen Humsafar Express earlier today. Following the event, he went on to address a rally in Mysuru in wake of the upcoming Karnataka state Assembly elections to be held in April-May this year.

Modi took this as an opportunity to slam the current government of Karnataka of corruption while praising his governance subtly. Amidst the blame game, he also announced two long-term projects for Mysuru. He also expressed his condolences on the death Farmer leader K.S. Puttanaiah who passed away on Sunday.

“The Bengaluru-Mysuru highway will be widened to six-lane which will cost Rs. 6400 crores,” announced Modi. “The work will be completed in two phases,” added Modi.

Speaking over the lack of space and huge traffic on Mysuru railway station, Modi also announced a new railway station for the city.

“We have planned to build a new satellite railway station in Mysuru on a cost of Rs. 800 crores. The station will be modern, multi-storeyed and will increase the number of trains, facilitating transport,” said Modi.

He claimed that the laucnch of Palace Queen Humsafar Express will boost tourism and employment in the states the train passes from.

Bashing the government of Karnataka, he attacked them of pleasing the senior party leaders in Delhi and lopsiding the development of the state and claimed that his party focusses on development of each and every state. Modi accused the Karnataka government misuing power for “earning commission”. He asked the people whether “they want a government of commission or government of mission.” He compared Congress as a ‘bump’ on the road.

Prime Minister Modi is on a two-day visit to Karnataka.
