Crime Branch seeks reply from Google about e-mail sent to CBSE head

New Delhi [India], Mar. 30 (NT): Crime Branch of The Delhi Police on Friday sought a reply from Google about an e-mail that was sent to the CBSE chairperson Anita Karwal in links with the paper leak case as ANI reported.

An e-mail was sent to the CBSE chairperson from a Gmail ID with images of handwritten leaked questions papers.

Meanwhile, the crime branch recognized over 10 WhatsApp groups, each having 50-60 members in connection with the same.

The papers of the economics exam of Class XII, held on March 26 and mathematics exam of Class X, held on March 28 were leaked on social media hours before the examination.

Soon after this, CBSE announced re-examination and a police inquiring into the matter.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javadekar also took cognizance of the matter and assured strict action against the culprits.

Till now the Delhi Police has interrogated over 30 people, including students and teachers of private coaching centres in links with the matter.

Earlier on Thursday, the Delhi Police held a teacher of a private coaching centre into their custody and questioned him in connection with CBSE paper leak.

A suspected man identified as Vicky was arrested by the police today, a day after the CBSE announced that it would re-conduct the Class 10 mathematics and Class 12 economics examinations following reports that the exam papers had leaked.

Vicky, according to sources, is the owner of a Delhi-based Vidya Coaching Centre. Vicky did Bachelors in Computers from the Delhi University. He passed out in 1996.

Vicky was held following a series of raids launched by the Delhi Police's Crime Branch, which is examining how the exam papers were leaked.

 Following Students uproar, The Delhi Police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the paper leak. Officials earlier said that initial inquiry had suggested that the papers were leaked a day before the Class 10 mathematics examination.
