The cyclonic storm 'Gaja’ has moved ahead almost westwards and lay centre at 740 km east-northeast of Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and 840 km east-northeast of Nagappattinam, Tamil Nadu this morning,  informing the same Director of IMD Chennai said , “Cyclonic storm 'Gaja' now lies at about 820 km east northeast of Nagapattinam. It is expected to cross between Chennai & Nagapattinam during forenoon on 15th Nov. Sea will be very rough, fishermen are advised not to venture in the sea till 15th Nov”.

The cyclone is very expected to move west south-westwards and intensify more into a Severe Cyclonic Storm in the next 24 hours and maintain the intensity during next 24 hours.

Then, while moving west south-westwards, it is expected to grow weaker and cross north Tamil Nadu coast between Nagappattinam and Chennai as a Cyclonic Storm during morning hours of November 15.

Weather department following the cyclone  updates had forecasted rainfall at most of the places with heavy falls at isolated places over north coastal Tamil Nadu and adjoining south coastal Andhra Pradesh from November 14 evening.

’The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase with rainfall at most of the places and heavy rainfall at a few places. Heavy rainfall is also expected at isolated places in North Tamil Nadu. Also, heavy rainfall at isolated places in South Tamil Nadu, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema is expected on November 15,’’ stated Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA).
