Pratapgarh: District Magistrate Shambhu Kumar paid the surprise visit to two women shelter homes in the area, found most women missing. Kumar said 'We asked management about the women not present, they said in the afternoon women go out for work. We will visit in the night as well to verify'.

District Magistrate’s surprise visit came in the wake of recent horror incident which occurred in the Deoria Uttarpradesh and Mujjafurpur Bihar where sex scandal busted, even though these shelter homes are funded by state government.

As opposition parties raising serious concern over the alleged sexual assault of minor girls at children’s shelter home in Deoria, Uttar Pradesh and Muzaffarpur, Bihar.

Earlier the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday dubbed the incident shameful and announced that no culprit would run off the action  in the parliament.

Singh also told in the Lok Sabha during the Monsoon parliament session that two senior officials of the State government are probing the matter.

Opposition members, including those from the Samajwadi Party and the RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal), raised the issue and referred to a parallel incident at Muzaffarpur in Bihar.

Singh assured that the State government has taken “quick action” in the case. He termed such incidents as unfortunate, sad and shameful.

Singh also said the district administrative officer has been suspended and the manager of the shelter home as well as her husband has been arrested.
