New Delhi [India], Feb 1 (NT): PM Modi expresses satisfaction by saying that “This budget will accelerate economic growth”

He added that this Budget has focused on all sectors.

 Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauds his finance minister Arun Jaitley for presenting a budget that is “farmer friendly, common citizen friendly, business environment-friendly and development friendly."

In this budget Govt's health scheme to cover 10 crore poor families have become world's largest government-funded health protection scheme.

Arun Jaitley proposed to tax long-term capital gains exceeding Rs 1 lakh at 10 percent without indexation.

Electronic IT assessment will be rolled out across the country, leading to greater efficiency and transparency assures FM

 Mobile phones set to become costlier as customs duty on them has been increased to 20 percent.

 Health and education cess have been augmented to 4 percent.

For senior citizens, exemption of interest income on bank deposits increased to Rs 50,000

The budget proposes the introduction of the tax on distributed income by equity-oriented mutual funds at 10 percent.

There is the Standard deduction of Rs 40,000 for the salaried class in the wake of transport and medical expenses.

After the presentation of last-Budget before general polls PM Modi addressed the nation as saying the “budget will strengthen the hopes of 1.2 billion Indians”

Expressing his greetings to FM Modi said, ”I congratulate the Finance Minister for the decision regarding Minimum Support Price. I am sure it will help the farmers tremendously asserted PM Modi ahead of Union Budget 2018.
