Egypt mosque attack: Sonia Gandhi asks for response from global community

New Delhi [India], Nov 25 (NT): Condemning the recent terror attack in Egypt at the mosque, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday said such an attack is a reminder that terrorism remains a dreadful challenge and asks for a concentrated and continued response from the global community.

Sharing harmony with the people of Egypt, MS Gandhi stated it is a deplorable act of evil terror against innocent citizens.

"This weak terror attack is an austere reminder that the persisting danger of terrorism remains a frightening challenge that asks for a concentrated and continued response from the global community," she insisted

Sonia said terrorism is a crime against humankind for which there can never be any explanation and such barbaric actions are against the code of belief of every religious conviction.

Ms. Gandhi said the terrible attack is an intensely disturbing manifestation of the evil armed forces of terror.

"The attack took place at a place of worship and taken the lives of hundreds of innocent worshipers make this ridiculous act of violence even more dreadful," she quoted.

The terrorist attack that took place on Friday claimed over 200 lives and wounded scores of worshippers in Egypt.

An explosion happened at a crowded mosque in the Bir al-Abd region of north Sinai in Egypt when people attending worship were offering their afternoon prayers.
