With the excellent performance of Jos Buttler, England defeated Australia by 28 runs in the T20 match at Edgbaston yesterday. Butler's half-century is the fastest fifty by any foreign batsman. England first scored 221 runs after losing five wickets. Buttler made the fiftieth century in just 22 balls and was caught by Darcy Short after catching by Mitchell Svensson, who has scored 61 before being run out. Captain Eoin Morgan also contributed 49 runs in the team's contribution to the team's victory.

Swepson was the highest wicket-taker with two wickets from Australia. Chasing a target of 222, Australian captain Aaron Finch played 84 runs and added 86 runs for Aston Egg for the sixth wicket. Both Chris Jordan and Adil Rashid both scored the highest three-wicket haul for England.

Captain Eoin Morgan said, “We started outstandingly well. Jos and Jason really did get us off to a flyer, expressing themselves and making the most of that new ball and good wicket. Sometimes when you get off to a good start and you’re 100 for none or one, you can fall short of getting 200, but we didn’t take the foot off the pedal. We bat quite deep so we stuck to our mantra of going quite hard.”
