FIFA WC : Iran fans unfurl banners appealing to allow women to enter home stadiums

Since 1979 the state in Iran has been banned women in the country from attending male-only sports tournaments. The fans at the venue for the Iran vs Morocco FIFA World Cup 2018 match in Russia, several number of banners with the words “#NoBan4Women” and “Support Iranian Women to Attend Stadium” were noticed.

On Friday three thrilling matches were played at the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, the second of which took place between Iran and Morocco. The game witnessed some power packed action as both teams attacked with dynamism but in the end, it was firmed up by an own goal by Morocco's Aziz Bouhaddouz in second-half strike time as he started a cross into the back of his own net.

As the Iranian fans celebrated the win at the Saint Petersburg Stadium, they also sent a message back home by opening out a banner that protested against the decision by their government to prohibit women from attending football matches in Iran.

Fans had started unfurling the banners in the first half but after some uproar, they were removed. However, later in the game, they were out for a second time as fans aimed to put their message across the world.
