During this festival season, feature phone has been one of the most gifted items. This thing has come out in a survey. It has been said that retailers in small towns and cities have stocked the feature phones in the last few months. Analysts say that as a category this category is expected to be around 52 percent of feature phones this year. 

Analysts say that around 90 percent of retailers of Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities had made phone calls within the range of Rs 1,000, which the customers bought for a large number of gifts. The survey shows that in August, the Gross Merchandise value of feature phones has increased by 16 percent. 

However, in the quarter ended September 2017, gross merchandise value has increased 29% compared to the September 2016 quarter. It has been said in the survey that 39% of retailers want to buy feature phone less than 500 rupees. At the same time, 51 percent of retailers want to stock the feature phone with a range of 500-1,000 rupees. 

Smartphone purchases in the offline market have been weak in this festive season. The reason for this is a discount, no cost EMI and assured buyback benefits offered by online platforms like Amazon, Flipkart. Feature phone market has grown 18% in the April-June 2017 quarter and its share in the total market is about 54 percent. About 96 percent of the feature phones sold in the September quarter is below Rs 2,000. While the feature phones priced at less than Rs 1,000 are almost 50 percent.
