Prime Minister’s Ude Desh ke Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme has come to fruition with the take-off of Air Odisha’s maiden flight from Ahmedabad to Mundra. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was present at the event and inaugurated the flight. He spoke to media and termed the project as the fulfillment of PM Modi’s dream.

“Udan aims to provide air facility to the common man through regional connectivity. Till now, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Surat were all connected to Mumbai, but with this service, these cities will be connected to Ahmedabad ,” said Rupani while speaking to press.

Ude Desh ke Aam Nagrik is a scheme launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi which aims at providing air travel to the common man at an affordable price. It comes under the National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP) released by Ministry of Civil Aviation.

Air Odisha is a Bhubhaneshwar based air carrier granted with permits to run flights on 50 regional routes. It was granted the flying permit from Directorate General of Civil Aviation on Tuesday. The carrier has also started operation on Ahmedabad-Jamnagar route while operations on the Diu-Ahmedabad route are in the pipeline. The flight from Ahmedabad to Diu will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 25.
