A special court in Coimbatore five persons were sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering a man in the city in 2015.
According to the prosecution, a five-member gang had attacked Rajeshkumar (23) while he was playing cricket at a ground at VKK Menon Road here on October 10, 2015.
The judge also sentenced them to undergo one year of imprisonment for using lethal weapons and 10 years of imprisonment for trespassing into the shop.
