Former UN Secretary-General and Nobel Prize Kofi Annan passed away

Former United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan passed away at 80 years of age. Annan was ill for the last few days and on Saturday morning he breathed his last in Switzerland. Annan's death was reported through a post on his official Twitter handle. It was written on the demise of Annan, "With great sadness, the Annan family and the Annan Foundation are reporting that Kofi Annan, former UN Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Prize winner, is not among us. He breathed last Saturday (August 18th)."

In the last moments of the former UN Secretary-General, he was with his wife and children. Annan was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001 for his humanitarian work. Annan and UN were jointly awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001. Annan worked as the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations for two terms from January 1997 to December 2006. He was the first African to become the General Secretary of the UN.

Kofi Annan was born on April 8, 1938, in the city of Kumasi in the Gold Coast, which is presently Ghana's country. After getting an early education in a boarding school in Ghana, Annan enrolled in Kusama's Science and Technology college. His father was an educated person, so he also paid a lot of attention to Kofi's studies. When Annan was 20 years old, he won the Ford Foundation Scholarship and went to St. Paul's Minnesota to study graduate in McLester College, where he studied economics.

After graduating from Economics in Economics in 1961, Kofi Annan moved to Geneva, where he earned a DEA degree from the Graduate Institute of International Studies. Annan has also joined World Health Organization in Geneva. There he worked as a budget officer. They remained with WHO until 1965. From 1965 to 1972 Annan worked for the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. In 1976 he returned to Geneva once again to work with the UN. After that, he again worked with the UN.
