GST: Deadline for applying new MRP sticker until March 2018

After the implementation of the goods and services tax, GST has approved the modification of the MRP sticker to the companies after the change in MRP of the minimum retail value of the products. Companies can now revise the revised MRP sticker on their unsold products until March 2018. Let us tell you that the Ministry of Consumer Affairs had recently instructed the authorities to investigate whether the companies are using the revised MRP sticker or not.     

Giving information about the decision, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Ramvilas Paswan said "In the case of GST, the companies had approved the revised MRP sticker until December on unsold products. At the last meeting of the GST Council, tax rates on nearly 200 products were reduced. Therefore, it has decided to extend the deadline until December 2018."   

It has been increased twice before the deadline, effective from July 1, after the GST, the companies were given the approval for applying the modified MRP sticker on unsold products first till September, which was later extended to December. After lower tax rates on nearly 200 products in November, the ministry had approved the extra sticker. 

Council recently lowered several products. GST Rates the Ministry had last month approved the additional sticker for showing the reduced MRP of packaged products. Nearly 178 items of daily use were brought out from the tax scope of 28 percent and covered in 18 percent. Simultaneously, the same rate was fixed at five percent for both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned restaurants.
