New Delhi [India], Jan 22 (NT): The top Court on Monday stayed proceedings in the Delhi and Bombay High Courts on cases associated to levying Goods and Services Tax (GST) on sanitary napkins.

The Supreme Court further noted it would hear all cases pertaining to this heated discussion if they were slowed down from being examined in state high courts.

Petitioners have also been issued notices by the top court in this view.

Protests have been staged in different pockets of the nation asking for the release of sanitary napkins under the GST domain, in a bid to prop up sanitation and hygiene among women.

Showing disapproval over the placing of sanitary napkins under the 12% slab of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), students of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh will be sending Prime Minister Narendra Modi sanitary napkins with messages on menstrual sanitation written on them.

A group of students in the city has kicked off a campaign motivating women to mark their views on menstrual hygiene on sanitary napkins and added that when 1,000 such napkins with messages are completed, they will hurl to Prime Minister Modi.

The campaign, which was set in motion on January 4, has been getting quite a lot of hold up, especially through social media.
