Shooting at the real location is not everyone’s cup of tea. Especially when your movie subject is historical. Let me tell you that after Deepika Padukone’s ‘Padmaavat’, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika' is causing ripples in showbiz although it is in its nascent stage for similar reasons. And with that development, our attention, by virtue of its natural inclination towards lovely spots, was captivated by the locations where Manikarnika movie is being shot.

Amer Fort

Also popular as Amber Fort among the locals, the Fort of Amer was originally built by Raja Man Singh I, who was known for his deep association with Emperor Akbar. The beauty of the fort lays in the splendid way the Mughal and Hindustani architectural styles are merged to enliven every corner of the fortress. The sight of Maota Lake is another worthy attraction. A few portions of Manikarnika have been shot in the Diwan-e-Khas and Diwan-e-Aam areas of Amer Fort.

Jaigarh Fort

It is a strategically built fort built by Maharaja Jai Singh II in order to provide armor to the Amer Fort and the city itself. It is distinguished for its unending walls, the renowned Jaivana – the world’s largest cannon on wheels, the mystery-ridden water tank, the many awe-inspiring chambers, the labyrinthine passages, the well-manicured lawns and so on. Word has it that a battle scene featuring Kangana Ranaut as Rani Laxmi Bai in the movie Manikarnika has been shot in Nahargarh Fort and Jaigarh Fort. Interestingly, the Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort are connected by a subterranean passage. Word has it that secret route was used to flee to escape calamity or attack from the enemy.

Nahargarh Fort

Another favorite hot spot for tourists and filmmakers is the Nahargarh Fort which sits atop the Aravallis and oversees a lovely lake below. It was named after the spirit of a prince who would haunt the land and hamper the construction of the fort. Besides the stunning architecture of the fort, there is a biological park, glass palace and Jaipur wax museum for the amusement of visitors.
