The government has instructed to prioritize such locally produced cyber security products in government procurement, whose intellectual property rights are with companies or startups located in the country. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has issued an order in this regard. It said, " Cybersecurity is notified in a strategic area and in this, all government procurement agencies will prefer the manufactured/produced cybersecurity products at home."
The notification issued at the beginning of this month is based on the Public Purchase Order 2017. Its aim is to expand the income and employment in the country. According to the rule, the company claiming intellectual property rights must present proof of proprietary rights. This new order will be applicable to all ministries and all the departments of the Central Government.
Responding to this notification, Cyber Security Company said that preference of market in cyber security will be the basis for the nation's national and economic security in the future. "Use and promotion of indigenous cybersecurity products are essential for any country to keep their information safe and for economic prosperity," said Tarun Vij, co-founder of a company. The US, China and Russia have already started this process and now it is time that India should follow it.
