AHMEDABAD: As the Poll-battle in Gujarat for first phase of Gujarat assembly elections begun today morning, people in large number spotted different polling stations to cast their votes.

Ballot voting for the first phase of Gujarat Assembly elections 2017 till 11 am is recorded about 20.9%, covering 89 constituencies of the Saurashtra and South Gujarat constituencies started at 8 am on Saturday.

In the first two hours of poll-battle, a number of important leaders and nominee cast their votes, including Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, his rival on Rajkot-West seat Indranil Rajyaguru, senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, and Gujarat BJP chief Jitu Vaghani and Congress MLA of Amreli seat Paresh Dhanan along with cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara.

We're noticing that the polling hasn't been accurately smooth in some places, as per reports temporary malfunction or fault of equipment of the EVMs and VVPATs in Rajkot, Rajpipla, Bhavnagar, Palitana, Porbandar. In Porbandar, there were 8 voting stations where EVM equipment found fault, and in Amreli five voting booths have glitches in EVM said EC of India.

Ex- Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah uttered his concern over the faulty of EVMs. Abdullah tweeted: "I’ve been extremely skeptical of EVM related conspiracy theories but I’m being to question my unwavering faith in the machines & their infallibility. I hope the Election Commission can step up & address the questions that are being asked of it about the trustworthiness of voting machines."
