After a word war campaign, Gujarat is all set to participate in polls today

With 977 nominees contesting for 98 seats of Saurashtra and south region of the state, Gujarat is ready to poll on Saturday for the first phase of assembly elections.

The first phase of polling will be conducted in 89 assembly constituencies of Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions with 977 nominees in the poll ground of Gujarat.

About 2.12 crore electorates, consist of 1, 11, 05,933 men and 1, 01, 25,472 women, are likely to put into effect for their voting rights.

Abdasa assembly seat in Kachchh district is the biggest constituency, which widens over 6,278 sq km whereas Karanj assembly seat in Surat district is the smallest constituency that widens over only 4 sq km.

The second phase will be conducted on December 14 for 93 assembly constituencies whereas counting of the votes will be held on December 18.

The decisive elections are being seen as esteem concern for saffron BJP, which has been remaining in the power for last 22 years, and for the Congress, it would be a decisively indicative test for 2019 general elections.
