K'taka polls effect :HD Kumarawamy says JD(s)-Cong combine to "save secular forces"

Of the 222 assembly seats for which polling took place in 15 May, the BJP has won 104 while the Congress has won in 78 constituencies and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda's party JD(S) and its pre-poll collaborator BSP bagged 38 seats.

Aspiring to form the Government, all three parties are holding legislature party meetings this morning. Both the BJP and the Congress-JDS collision have stated they will meet the Governor again directly after the meetings and will put forward a list of lawmakers to show they have the numbers.

After the Congress overcome, the party showed political pressure and took the initiative of striking a deal with the JDS. According to the agreement, the Congress vowed to support a government headed by JDS leader and son of HD Deve Gowda's- HD Kumarawamy.

After the verdict of Karnataka Polls In a late evening meeting at a five-star hotel in Bengaluru yesterday, top leaders of Congress and JD(s) met to discuss the modalities of the new deal. After the meeting, HD Kumarawamy, who had brought down a combine government with the Congress in 2006 and later associated with the BJP to become chief minister, said the new coalition was to "save secular forces".
