London [United Kingdom], Aug 03 (NT): The Indian Women's hockey team thrashed out of the Women's World Cup 2018 on Thursday as they were defeated by Ireland eves in the penalty shootout. Playing a first quarter final since 1978, A goalless game was stormily contested right till the end, with the Irish enhanced the Indians in creating significant chances. Irish women made six circle penetrations, one more than India in the first and second quarters, even though the Indian defense withstood their attacks fine.

Ireland's Nicola Dailya and Anna O'Flanagan along with India's Rani and Monika Malik failed to notice their respective penalty shots before Upton Roisin took the Irish in the lead.

Navjot Kaur was missed the chance to convert the following attempt, with McFerran making a good save, while Meeke Alison scored 2-0 for Ireland.
