Everyone is excited to celebrate the most awaited festivals of colors. Perhaps going wild and full of excitement is the real essence of the Holi but apart from all the fun and dancing with colors you need to be careful about the most sensitive part of your body, that is your eyes through with you can see the world.

So here are some of the essential tips to safeguard your eyes for Holi 2018:

Reasons for infection in your eye during Holi:

  • Since we normally use synthetic colors on Holi which may contain heavy metals like lead causing pink eye, corneal abrasion, chemical burn, or blunt eye injury so try to avoid such colors and prepare natural colors for yourself.
  • Many colors may affect your eye causing fleeting blindness; a phenomenon of sudden vision loss.
  • Balloons are the all-time favorite but try to avoid them because it may cause serious eye injury when thrown on someone.
  • You may have observed shining mica particles in red color, they can cause damage to the cornea of the eye.
  • Contact lenses are a big NO as color may get trapped between lens resulting serious infection.

 

Eyes need extra care during Holi:

  • While playing holi try to protect your eyes by wearing sunglasses or eye wears but be careful use plastic shades because during excitement you sunglasses may get broken.
  • Tie your hairs together to prevent color dripping into the eyes and also to prevents your hair to get damaged.
  • Never rub your eyes if in case colors enter into them as this may cause irritation or vision loss or pink eye.
  • Our elders always advise us to put some coconut oil on our body to make sure the color will get removed easily. So,therefore, try to put a thick late of coconut oil around your eyes, if in case of serious irritation just go and wash your face with cold water.
  • While you enjoy playing holi, also please try to request the person you are playing with to not to smear the colors anywhere near your eyes.
