Homemade Doodhi Halwa is an easy recipe that you can prepare for your family and friends on special occasions and festivals. This halwa recipe is cooked using bottle gourd, milk, sugar, khoya, ghee and mixed dry fruits. It is one of the simple dessert recipes that you can cook for your loved ones if you feel like eating something sweet.

Ingredients of Homemade Doodhi Halwa
1 kilograms bottle gourd
250 ml milk
100 gm mixed dry fruits
4 tablespoons ghee
100 gm khoya
1/2 tablespoons powdered green cardamom

How to make Homemade Doodhi Halwa
Step 1

Peel the bottle gourd and then grate it in a large bowl. Put this bowl aside till further required.
Step 2

Now, put a pan on medium flame and melt ghee in it. Once the ghee is hot enough, add the grated bottle gourd or lauki and stir to mix with ghee, and cook for about 5 minutes.

Step 3

After 5 minutes, add sugar in the pan and then pour milk into it. Stir to mix well with the gourd and cover with a lid. Cook the lauki in milk for about 10 minutes.

Step 4
Now, open the lid of the pan and add khoya or mawa and stir for about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Finally, add chopped dry fruits along with cardamom powder in the pan and stir for another 5 minutes. Switch off the burner and transfer the halwa to a serving bowl. You can serve it hot, although you can enjoy it chilled as well.
