Honeypreet Insan will appear in Panchkula court the adopted daughter of rape convict Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, in a local court on Wednesday afternoon, a day after she was arrested from a highway in Punjab more than a month after she went into hiding.

Police commissioner AS Chawla said they will try to find the maximum remand for Honeypreet as her custody is very important to cross-examine her job role in the violence in which at least 41 people were killed on August 25 after the Dera leader was sentenced to 20 years in jail.

Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja, has deprived of police charges that she instigated the Dera chief’s followers. Her lawyer Vishal Garg told the Hindustan Times all charges against her are false and that he will oppose the application for her custodial interrogation.

She has been made allegations in the FIR number 345 in which other core members of the Dera — Aditya Insan (still absconding) and Surender Dhiman are facing charges of incitement to rebellion, conspiracy, and provoking violence in Panchkula. She has been booked on several charges including sedition and rioting.
