With both teams already assured of their ODI berths for the next four-year cycle, Netherlands destroyed Nepal for the seventh spot in the playoff match at Kweke Sports Club, Kweke.

Men in Orange won the toss and had no hesitation in deciding to bat first against Nepal. But soon they were in trouble at 48 runs for 4 wickets with Sompal Kami doing the damage as he picked up three of the four wickets. Netherlands recovered through de Leede and van der Merwe's partnership before another handy 25 from Scott Edwards helped push the score over 100. The ninth wicket pair of Pieter Seelar and Shane Snater added 37 crucial runs as Netherlands ended their quota of overs with 189 runs on the board. Kami was the star for Nepal with the ball, ending with impressive figures of 4 wickets for 24 in his 10 overs quota.

Chasing down 190 runs, Nepal were never in the hunt as they lost wickets in bunches and at one stage were 76 for loss of 7 wicket before Kami restored some respectability to the chase with 36 runs. Eventually Nepal weren't able to deal with the slow left-arm orthodox spin of van der Merwe who took magnificent 4 wickets for 20 runs to go with his 25 with the bat. As a result, Netherlands grabbed the seventh spot in the table in the ICC World Cup Qualifier 2018.

Brief scores: Netherlands 189/9 in 50 overs (Bas de Leede 39; Sompal Kami 4-24) beat Nepal 144 all out in 44.4 overs (Sompal Kami 36; van der Merwe 4-20) by 45 runs.
