IPL 2018: Could Gautam Gambhir move to CSK after being neglected by KKR?

Indian Premier League (IPL) outfit Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) choice to free skipper Gautam Gambhir according to their ranks came as a strong blow for the majority of their fans. With Gambhir's fortune now to be decided in the auction later this month, one of the predictions submitted Chennai Super Kings (CSK) moving for Gambhir and the franchise's Twitter account even replied to this prediction by one of the fans.

Here's how the Twitter conversation between a fan and CSK went on the subject:

After retaining two players – Sunil Narine for 8.5 crores and Andre Russell for 7 crores – KKR have had a deduction of 21 crores. They still have Rs 59 crore and three 'Right to Match' cards in during the auction later this month which takes place in Bengaluru.

Kolkata has won the IPL two times and was led by Gambhir on both occasions. The Delhi-lad's heart might be set on a return home. Though he still has about 3 years of cricket left in him, joining CSK wouldn't be a bad call, at least for the next season. All the more, fans would be ecstatic seeing the left-hander share the dressing room with MS Dhoni.

As far as CSK are concerned, the team that everyone had speculated about, reunites its two favorite players – MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina – in the yellow jerseys. After moving from obvious choices CSK retained Ravindra Jadeja over Tamil Nadu player Ravichandran Ashwin.

It will be interesting to see who exactly the returning franchise go for in the auctions as they have Brendon McCullum, DJ Bravo, Faf du Plessis besides Ashwin to choose from and do not have a lot of money left in their kitty at the same time as well.
