New Delhi: Former Indiam batsman Mohammad Kaif has been appointed assistant coach of Delhi Daredevils team for the upcoming IPL season. The team announced, "Delhi Daredevils have appointed former India batsman Mohammad Kaif as the assistant coach for the upcoming Indian Premier League season."

In the 2017 IPL season, Kaif has been the assistant coach of Gujrat Lions. He will be the assistant coach of Ricky Ponting and James Hopes in the Daredevils team. On becoming the member of Delhi, Kaif said that I am feeling very good with the Delhi Daredevils team. This is a great team and we will do well.

Mustafa Gaus, director of Delhi Daredevils said, "Kaif has immense experience and he has a deep understanding of the game. He will be in the role of mentor for the youth and we are confident that with his guidance the team will perform well in the next season. "

Recently Shikhar Dhawan was also joined the Delhi which will strength the batting order of the team. Shikhar Dhawan has recently been associated with Delhi Daredevils. Sunrisers Hyderabad added the Shikhar Dhawan to Delhi instead of three players, with Dhawan playing in his home city IPL franchise after 10 years. Instead of Dhawan, Delhi has released all-rounder Vijay Shankar, spinner Shahbaz Nadeem and young Abhishek Sharma for Sunrisers.
