ISSF World Championships: Saurabh Chaudhary wins gold while Arjun Singh, Cheema win bronze

New Delhi: Asian Games gold medalist Saurabh Chaudhary scripted a history again in the ongoing new 52nd ISSF Shooting World Championship in Changwon on Thursday.

The 16-year-old Asian Games gold medalist scored 245.5 in the final and bagged a junior world championship crown with a record score .He made a world record to clinch the gold in 10m Air Pistol Junior Men event.

Saurabh who had qualified for the finals in third position with a score of 581, beat Korea’s Hojin Lim. Saurabh went into the final series of shots to settle the gold medal with an over 3 point lead against Lim and though he couldn’t manage a 10 on his final shot he at ease broke the junior world record with a total score of 245.5.

The Indian team consists of Chaudhary, Cheema and Anmol Jain also clinched the silver with an aggregate score of 1730. Korea grabbed the gold with a new Junior World Record score of 1732 while Russia won the bronze with a score of 1711.

On the other hand Arjun Singh Cheema wons a bronze medal in Men’s 10m Air Pistol finals with a score of 218 after entering for the final in sixth place with score of 577.
