IndiGo call center receives bomb threat call for onboard Jaipur-Mumbai flight

IndiGo call centre picked a bomb threat call for its flight which was being operated between Jaipur-Mumbai in the early morning hours today.

“We immediately reported the matter to Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) & followed all security protocols. The concerned authorities carried out the investigation & declared the call as specific bomb threat. Following clearance, operations will be resumed as normal,” said IndiGo officials as quoted by ANI on its Twitter handle.

The Low-cost mover IndiGo was today issued warning of a bomb on a Jaipur-Mumbai flight that was by now in the air.

According to India Today IndiGo's call centre received the call at around 5:30 this morning from an unknown person. The person stated that the airline that there was a bomb threat to the 6E 218 flight, which operates between Jaipur and Mumbai.

The flight had already took off when the call was picked. As per the reports of the  flight tracker FlightStats, the scheduled time of departure of the flight is at 5:05 am and it lands in Mumbai at 7 am.

However the bomb threat was analyzed and was classified as a "specific bomb threat", IndiGo said. Probs though found the call to be in actual fact a hoax.

"Following the clearance by the authorities, operations will be resumed as normal," IndiGo  assured.
