India, Japan ink six agreements in 13th Annual Bilateral Summit

India and Japan have inked six agreements and made two major announcements on defense and development projects, ahead of the 13th Annual Bilateral Summit which was led by Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shinzo Abe in Tokyo on Monday.

In addition the two nations have also agreed to set up a 22 talks between the Foreign Ministers and the Defence Ministers of the two sides in enhancing bilateral defense relationship.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in his press statement after the summit that the new 22 arrangement is focused at advancing world peace and stability.

PM Modi also said both the nations have agreed to create a closer ties in digital technologies, cyberspace, health, defence, ocean and space sciences as well.

Apart from this Japanese investors have announced that they will be investing 2.5 billion US dollars in India.

The two key announcements of worth made by both the nations after the summit include Japan officially joining the International Solar Alliance-ISA after the approval of its Framework Agreement. Japan will be the 71st nation to pen the agreement and the 48th country to sanction it.

Both nations also exchanged the notes relating to the provision of seven Yen-loan projects including the one for the Construction of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail, the third phase of the Delhi Mass Rapid Transport System Project, North East Road Network Connectivity Improvement Project and the Construction of Chennai Peripheral Ring Road, as DD news reported.

Worth mention here the total loan provision is up to 316 billion yen.
