In the first T20 match against Ireland, Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma played very well. For the first time in the T20 competition against Ireland, both of the batsmen played a lot against the host team and scored a lot.

Indian opener Rohit Sharma missed out century with just three runs from his T20 career third in the first match against Ireland. He played a blistering inning of 97 runs in 61 balls. Rohit hit eight boundaries and five sixes in his innings. His strike rate was 159.02. Rohit shared the first wicket with Dhawan in partnership with 160 runs. Rohit Sharma became clean-bowled on the chess ball. 

Shikhar Dhawan showed his batting strength in his very first match against Ireland. He showed his intentions when he stepped on the field and played 74 runs for 45 balls. Dhawan hit five boundaries and so many sixes in his innings. During his stay, his strike rate was 164.44. 

Indian opener Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan have the second largest opening partnership for India in T20 cricket. The first wicket partnership between these two was 160 runs. Lokesh Rahul and Rohit Sharma are the names of the biggest opening partnership in India for T20 cricket. The two batsmen shared a 165-run partnership against Sri Lanka in 2017. In the smallest format of cricket, the third largest partnership from India was in 2017 between Rohit and Dhawan. Both of these partnerships were of 158 runs against New Zealand. 

Against Ireland, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan became the first batsmen to partner in India for more than 1,000 runs in T20 cricket. Earlier in the T20 cricket, the batsmen who have shared more than 1000 runs in T20 cricket are the batsmen.
