India's position on Palestine is independent says Raveesh Kumar, MEA

New Delhi [India], Dec 7 (NT): After president trump ‘s move on Jerusalem India on Thursday asserted that its position on Palestine is autonomous and unswerving.

"India's position on Palestine is independent and consistent. It is shaped by our views and interests and not determined by any third country," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said oin accordance of Jerusalem as capital of Israel by the US president Trump.

Words from the US White House, President Donald Trump marked Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

With this declaration, the U.S. is also changing its embassy from Tel Aviv to the holy city, for a second time becoming the first nation to take such a tread.

Even as, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hailed the United States' move and tagged it a "historic day", the Arab world has criticized it saying that the holy city would persist to remain "eternal capital of the State of Palestine" and President Donald Trump's move has unlocked "the gates of hell".

Claiming on Trump Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in a televised address on Wednesday, hailed their leadership would not agree to the move and declared that the U.S. could no longer take a part in Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations.

Palestine Liberation Organization boomed Abbas' remarks and asserted they have "destroyed the two-state solution".
