New Delhi: In a very first reaction from the 'PM Modi-BJP- led Central government on PAK PM  Imran Khan's comment, in which he asked if 'we' would have to wait for a change of leadership' for better relationship between India and Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday stated that it was time Pakistan paying attention on fulfilling its worldwide obligations and stopped providing haven to terrorism originating from its soil.

MEA called the remark 'deeply regrettable’ and expressed disappointment over politicization of a 'pious event meant to realize the long pending demand of Sikh community to build up Kartarpur Corridor'.

"Pakistan is reminded that it must fulfil its international obligations and take effective and credible action to stop providing shelter and all kind of support to cross-border terrorism from territories under its control," leading news agency ANI cited MEA.

"Deeply regrettable that Pakistan PM chose to politicise the pious occasion meant to realise the long pending demand of Sikh community to develop Kartarpur Corridor by making unwarranted reference to J&K which is integral and inalienable part of India," MEA further stated.

During speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony in Pakistan, PM Khan stated that Kashmir was central to the heated discussion between India and Pakistan and added that if Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu contested elections from Pakistan's Punjab region, he would certainly be successful.

"I don't know why was Sidhu criticised (in India). He was just talking about peace. He can come and contest election here in Pakistan, he'll win. I hope we don't have to wait for Sidhu to become Indian PM for everlasting friendship between our nations," Khan further stated.
