India looking in a good form which might give them some kind of confidence over the rival Pakistan who will be the challenging opponent but India will love to merge victory over Pakistan and be at the top of the group. India has already made a hammering start to Asia Cup hockey in Bangladesh. Sitting pretty at the top of Group A, India thrashed Japan 5-1 in the opening game before humbling hosts Bangladesh 7-0 in the second game on Friday. On the other hand, Pakistan started with an equally convincing win over Bangladesh (7-0) before being held by Japan (2-2).

In this highly anticipated clash of the biggies and heavyweights of Asian hockey – or at least historically – could shape up the psychological level of the teams from this group. India, with six points, is already through to the ‘Super 4’ stages and could see either Pakistan or Japan progress alongside.

While India can take heart from their strong conversion in field goals and penetration inside the area but the team once again falls behind with their penalty corner success rate. Against Bangladesh, India earned 13 penalty corners but converted just two. India plays Pakistan in the third group game for both teams.
