The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announce on Monday, in its Special General Meeting, confirmed that India will be hosting the event ICC Cricket World Cup on 2023 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2021. This is the first time India would be hosting an ODI World Cup on its own recently in the 2011 world cup it was hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. India has previously co-hosted ODI World Cup on three occasions in the year 1987, 1996 and 2011. Meanwhile, India has won the tournament twice (1983 and 2011) since its inception in 1975. Other than the Champions Trophy and ODI World Cup, India will also be hosting Afghanistan for their first ever Test in 2019-2020 after they became full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in June 2017 along with Ireland.

Also, the members were apprised of the letters written by the Sports Ministry and NADA about having BCCI as a signatory. The house was unanimous that there was no need to come under NADA fold despite the body's active demand to carry out dope tests of the cricketers. "We have told them that we have a robust system in place and we are already WADA compliant. A working group, comprising all three office-bearers, will take a final call on this."Earlier, the proposed format for the five-year cycle (2019 -2023) had 51 matches across three formats. The new proposal has 81 home matches in that cycle," acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary told to the media.
